Denton is the largest ESAB manufacturing site in North America.  It is home to high volume wear parts for razor-razor blade model Welding and cutting tips i.e Velocity.  The site also produces high volume components for Hermosillo final assembly and takes claim for the HPI configurator line.  Another unique product for Denton is the special guns and cutting torches that span across multiple product lines. Exothermic final assembly products are also manufactures in Denton. Denton's newly added, distribution center services many key customers such as Airgas, Praxair, Matheson and independents along with contractors, oil and gas, and construction.  Denton is also unique for being ESAB's Center of Excellence as our key functions are located in this facility.  Some key attributes are local Research & Development for innovation, a major distribution center for US and global sales on Accessories & Adjacency products, the North America and international customer care support and a shared service center for North America.  The Denton location employees approximately 545 full time and temporary associates with an average length of employment of over 11 years!



Summary:

The immediate focus of the successful candidate will be to support NPI projects within the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) product line. The Project Engineer will be involved in the design and qualification tests of various products with specific supporting the R&D department objectives & strategies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to Director of R&D Welding & Gouging, overall R&D responsibility lead all assigned projects
  • For assigned projects, responsible to lead cross-functional teams of R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing,
  • Sourcing, Quality, After Market and Marketing, to ensure successful project launches
  • Responsible for following the Colfax APD (Accelerated Product Development) stage gate process
  • Responsible for negotiating and securing resources from resource owners, and establishing team member roles and responsibilities
  • Responsible to establish and manage project KPI's (resources, schedule, cost, etc.)
  • Responsible for running project meetings, presenting to management and stake holders
  • Responsible to get stakeholders sign off for each phase of the projects
  • Responsible for creating, understanding, and managing the project business case (financials) working with Product and finance managers
  • Responsible for creating product design in CREO and drawings and testing products thru test labs
  • Participation and leading VOC (Voice of Customer) activities & benchmarking

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Electrical or Mechanical
  • Experience in stage gate project management process
  • Preferred background in DDA (Data Driven Advantage), Connected products, IoT (Internet of Things)
  • Preferred background experience in Welding and/or Industrial Products
  • Preferred background experience working with 3rd party design houses and manufacturing
  • Preferred PMP certification and project management experience in a stage gate enviroment
  • 3D CAD Experience with ProE/Creo Design Software
  • 5-7 years' experience managing Engineering Projects
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite Package including Microsoft Project
  • Strong planning and organizational skills required for planning and execution of multiple projects
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage people and delegate tasks.
  • Demonstrated key competencies in critical thinking, problem solving skills, communication, decision-making, conflict management and adaptability.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills at all organizational levels.

Work Environment:

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to general office and manufacturing plant environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers and photocopiers, small products and parts. This is a full-time position, however, work outside normal business hours may occur.
