Title:                            Global Director Inventory Asset Utilization                                            

Reports To:                  Vice-President, Global Supply Chain

Location:                      Any ESAB site worldwide (Relocation is not available)                

 

Position Summary:       

The Global Director Inventory Asset Utilization is responsible for maximizing the use of slow or non-moving inventory stranded in ESAB's network, as well as for the implementation of processes to minimize its generation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business administration (preferred)
  • Bachelor degree is required, preferably in Supply Chain or Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in New Product Introduction
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in planning and procurement (i.e. using PFEP, planner/buyer, ERP system)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience performing analytics and handling large sets of data
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Manufacturing with proven experience applying the tools (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Access, Excel, Power point, etc.)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a worldwide strategy to maximize the use of inventory stranded in ESAB's network
  • Implement processes to convert, deconstruct, dispose, donate and promote stranded inventory
  • Implement a global program of Reverse Logistics to relocate stranded inventory into locations with potential of use
  • Collaborate with other functions to support New Product Introduction to do tactical and strategic planning and execution
  • Collaborate with other functions to improve processes generating stranded inventory
  • Create, maintain and publish documents for processes implemented
  • Provide feedback to Global Supply Chain Planning on improvements needed to processes, tools and reports.
  • Co-ordinate kaizen and workshops to close gaps identified and implement improvements
  • Prepare and share reports for ESAB's Sr. leadership to track improvements and adherence to processes implemented
  • Host formal and informal meetings with team members to identify broken processes

 

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Drive initiatives to manage and leverage inventory assets that contribute to ESAB's financial goals by :
    • Releasing reserves with direct impact to P&L
    • Reducing storage costs with direct impact to Operating Cost
    • Other indirect costs such as insurance fees and taxes

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills written and oral
  • Implement continuous improvement throughout the organization using Lean and Six Sigma principles (i.e. kaizen)
  • Methodical and ability to identify gaps in the processes
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skill
  • Flexible to handle multiple communication styles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
  • Ability to work with diverse team spread over the globe
  • Able to work on multiple projects
  • Customer focused mindset
  • 50 70% travel required

Work Environment:

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to general office and manufacturing plant environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers and photocopiers, small products and parts. This is a full-time position, however, work outside normal business hours may occur.
