Essential Job Functions

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repair to the component level of ESAB Automation products, welding and cutting power supplies, CNC systems and related accessories.
  • Test faulty equipment to reproduce issues reported by the customer and gather pertinent data for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Interpret schematic, wiring diagrams and assembly drawings to troubleshoot issues in a logical manner.
  • Devise and implement robust technical solutions using safe and standard industrial practices.
  • Create parts list in SAP and enter estimate labor time needed to implement repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Set up effective test fixtures and tooling.
  • Document activities through Excel, SAP and other appropriate record keeping systems as directed.
  • Interface with customers to properly identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, provide assistance and technical advice in a professional manner.
  • Travel to customer sites for equipment installation, calibration, repairs and support as needed.
  • Identify trends and patterns with equipment failures and problems, and report to Service Manager or directly to Engineering via Engineering Change Request (ECR) Form.
  • Conduct scheduled product maintenance training in-house or on customer site.
  • Complete assignments and tasks on time in accordance with repair schedules and Supervisor direction.
  • Ensure that the service process is fulfilling ESAB's commitment to delivering the highest level of product quality and customer satisfaction in the automated welding market.
  • Maintain the entire Customer Service work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following the 5S method: Sort (Remove non-essentials), Set in Order (Organize remaining items), Shine (Clean, paint and polish work area), Standardize (Label and color code), and Sustain (Maintain changes and keep in order).
  • Work overtime as needed to meet critical deadlines and/or provide customer support in other
    time zones.
  • Perform other duties as required


Required Skills and Experience

  • AA Electronics degree or equivalent job experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience
  • Experience with welding and cutting power system maintenance a plus
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware and Windows XP or newer OS
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for over the phone troubleshooting or written customer communication
