Position Title: Director of Product Management

 

Position Overview

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to contributing to and leading direct reports with the objectives of margin and share of demand expansion in addition to driving existing product improvements, increased attachment rate, share of wallet and new product initiatives for ESAB. You will leverage your industry experience, technical knowledge, agility with customer VOCs) and trend mapping to deliver sustained better than market results. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, with the drive and flawless execution to make that vision a reality. 

You will work with internal and external development counterparts to define customer needs and product solution requirements from end to end. You will work closely with Marcom, Marketing, Operations, R&D and Strategy to define the go-to-market, assisting in the product positioning, key benefits, and target customers. You will also serve as the internal and external champion or your product offering, working with the regional sales team to map the right channel management strategy and campaign, where appropriate meeting key customers.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain overall product plans for the assigned product platforms, for this role it will be Equipment LIP Light Industrial Equipment MMA/TIG/MIG/MIG Multi Process.  This requires a thorough review and analysis of current performance, portfolio health, market needs, trends, and other data
  • Lead a Team of product managers in developing Targets to Improve, product road maps, life cycle management, as well as a being a thought leader and contributor to productivity savings, promotional and social media campaigns, product launches.
  • Evaluation of product vision and scope to define high level and detailed requirements for product implementation. This will require the Product Manager to interview user groups, meet with customers and develop use cases with the appropriate Regional Lead.
  • Analysis of incoming feature requests and customer needs translating data points to QFD, CTQ's and associated investment grade business case.
  • Coordinate with other ESAB businesses to ensure solution selling - compatibility and efficiency of development.
  • Work with project teams and Marcom to flawless plan and execute product launches, including technical documentation, product webinar's, promotional items and related
  • Overall responsibility for each of the products in your product platform, from ideation to release.  This includes all aspects of functionality, quality, packaging, documentation etc.
  • Drive scenario planning, failure mode analysis, development life cycle VOC, use-case examples and pilot testing to support first time right and 100% SAY |DO
  • Animate an effective management operating system to drive research on emerging needs, product solutions and innovative technologies. Participate and drive knowledge sharing | ideation from data gathered at relevant trade shows, external customer meetings, benchmark exercises
  • Work with Sales, Marketing and Strategy to develop product pricing strategy for existing and new products.
  • Provide guidance and direction on the functional test plans as performed by Quality Assurance.
  • Work with the development team to create application engineering, product demos and product showcases helping to shape the content according to the customer and sector segmentation.
  • Manage feature requests during the lifecycle of the product lines, creating margin on the cost to serve and communalizing non-standard requests.

 

Qualifications

Language Capabilities

  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English

 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technology, engineering or business administration degree from an accredited educational institution in an appropriate field of study
  • MBA preferred

Technical Requirements

  • Ongoing and adequate experience in one or more of the following Welding Engineering, Marketing, General Management, Strategy
  • Effective communication skills; adept at asking leading questions
  • Working knowledge of business finance
  • Leadership skills to include understanding of situational leadership; talent enablement/development; building successful teams
  • Strong creative and influence skills.
  • Executive presentation skills
  • Curious agile learner
  • Clear understanding of the product-to-market process.
  • Strategy shaping; Ability to be forward thinking and analyze impacts of different scenarios on the existing products and their platforms.
  • Proficiency in project management
  • Working knowledge of contract law
  • Demonstrable experience in the use of Lean/Six Sigma Processes

Experience Requirements

  • 10 years of relevant work experience in roles with increasing responsibility

Mobility & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel globally 30%
