The Engineering Project Manager role is critical to the future success of ESAB and will be responsible for managing multiple New Product Introduction projects. These products span across our portfolio and include Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Arc Accessories, Welding, and MIG/TIG torches. The successful candidate will lead a cross-functional project team from product launch to closure. This position will report to the Director of R&D Welding & Gouging and based at ESAB's Denton Texas facility.

  • Lead cross-functional teams of R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, After Market and Marketing
  • Involved in all aspects of projects including ideation, supplier selection, design validation, product certification, product launch and closure
  • Resident expert of assigned product lines
  • Run project meetings and present updates to management and stake holders
  • Establish and manage project KPI's (resources, schedule, product cost, and project cost)
  • Follow the Colfax Accelerated Product Development (APD) stage gate process and present regular project updates at Decision Point Committee (DPC) to management for approvals
  • Work with Product, R&D, and Finance managers in creating the project business case
  • Work with mostly offshore suppliers and R&D resources in designing, developing and testing of products,
  • Participate in VOC (Voice of Customer) activities & benchmarking
  • Run lab validation tests


Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering OR Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience using Stage Gate Process methodology and leading a Project Management Office (PMO)
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering or mechanical engineering experience
  • 5+ years of project engineering or project management experience in engineering
  • Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, managing and executing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Financial acumen to include capital expenditures, operating expenses, budgeting, revenues, gross margin, ROI and NPV
  • Experience with SAP/JDE, APD, 3D CAD ProE/Creo Design Software


Desired Skills

  • M.S. Electrical Engineering OR Mechanical Engineering
  • Six Sigma Black Belt and/or PMP certification
  • Experience in managing New Product Initiatives
  • Experience in manufacturing sourced projects
  • Welding and cutting industry experience including PPE
  • Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) and Cost Reduction Projects
  • Background in DDA (Data Driven Advantage), Connected products, IoT (Internet of Things)
  • Experience working with 3rd party design houses, suppliers, and manufacturing
  • Lab hands on experience, comfortable in MIG/ TIG welding
  • DAQ, oscilloscope, general lab electrical equipment
  • R software or Python user
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills at all organizational levels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Power Point and Excel (Pivot Tables and Macros)
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage people and delegate tasks.
  • Demonstrated key competencies in critical thinking, problem solving skills, communication, decision-making, conflict management and adaptability.

Work Environment:

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to general office and manufacturing plant environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers and photocopiers, small products and parts. This is a full-time position, however, work outside normal business hours may occur.
