The position of Credit and Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing the collection efforts of approximately $70m accounts receivable balances for two different companies. The manager is responsible for the supervision of any staff, working closely with the outside Collection Agency and performing credit and collections for the largest and most sensitive customer accounts. The Manager would also work closely with the NAM Financial Controller and AR Manager concerning General Ledger matters, Bankruptcies and semi-annual audit reporting requests. The job also requires performing and or reviewing credit analysis on potential customers.


  • Reviewing and monitoring the collection efforts of the third party collectors
  • Driving best in class processes and procedures to meet the company's days sales outstanding and past-due targets
  • Establishing and maintaining processes to evaluate credit limits and credit terms that drive the top-line while protecting the financial condition of the company
  • Assisting with maintaining the SOX control matrix for the related order to cash controls
  • Assisting in the forecasting of cash receipts, accounts receivable and bad debt expense
  • Placing direct phone calls and E-mails to customers that are past due when necessary
  • Reviewing accounts to be turned over to an outside collections agency
  • Relays to Controller any and all accounts that need to be written off to bad debt
  • Maintains Bankruptcy files on customers
  • Leading and participating in other projects and assignments to support the NAM Financial Controller and ESAB goals


  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, with a concentration in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 10 years of experience in collecting, accounts receivable or a related area. Manufacturing industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong systems experience is preferred, including SAP and JDE
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Good written, oral and reading communication skills in order for the incumbent to accurately obtain, interpret and transcribe a variety of communications and instructions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for Windows (Outlook, Word, and Excel) is required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adjust and interact with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Some travel will be required, primarily domestic

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to general office and manufacturing plant environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers and photocopiers, small products and parts. This is a full-time position, however, work outside normal business hours may occur.
