 Environmental Health and Safety Specialist -manufacturing environment is required

Position Summary:   

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will work with the Denton facility supervisors/managers, associates and corporate EHS staff to develop and maintain a total EHS culture focused on risk management and compliance. Drive continuous improvement in EHS through involvement, ownership, education/training, recognition, ongoing program assessment and leadership. Serve as a point of expertise and leadership for EHS issues as they arise.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or other related field required
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience developing and managing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment required
  • Detailed understanding and previous involvement in formal EHS Management Systems
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills at all levels
  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in development of education and training programs
  • Planning, decision making and problem solving skills
  • EHS professional certification(s) preferred CSP, CEP, CIH
  • Must have Knowledge on how to utilize online regulatory websites: TCEQ STEERS, EPA TRI-MEweb, etc.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with LOTO, Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, Hazard Communication, Providing education / training, Risk assessment, Incident Analysis, and safety teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance to EHS requirements as they apply to the facilities. Organize compliance into a management system that meets and maintains certification criteria
  • Participate in the fulfillment of compliance requirements and ESAB business standards
  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to drive organization towards stated goals and continuous improvement
  • Communicate EHS performance metrics to ESAB corporate EHS
  • Conduct or oversee the conduct of investigations and corrective actions of incidences or other EHS non-conformances
  • Manage facilities worker's compensation claims.
  • Establish and maintain processes and systems to achieve compliance with statutory requirements and ESAB business standards
  • Develop, promote and execute the EHS Management System, concepts, tools/methods and standards
  • Maintain all site required documentation related to EHS issues, i.e. accident reports, inspection reports. training logs
  • Provide/conduct monthly EHS training sessions for employees and supervisors
  • Coordinate with contractors on the work progress and monitor their EHS related functions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, federal, state and local requirements
  • As needed, interface with external regulators and consultants
  • Plan, implement and manage EHS policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA & EPA rules and regulations, including wastewater and storm water discharge reporting.
  • Prepare, submit and document OSHA 300 logs; Determine and calculate exposure hours and TRIR.
  •  Represent the company with regulatory agencies: TCEQ, EPA, OSHA, RCRA etc.
