Denton is the largest ESAB manufacturing site in North America.  It is home to high volume wear parts for razor-razor blade model Welding and cutting tips i.e Velocity.  The site also produces high volume components for Hermosillo final assembly and takes claim for the HPI configurator line.  Another unique product for Denton is the special guns and cutting torches that span across multiple product lines. Exothermic final assembly products are also manufactures in Denton. Denton's newly added, distribution center services many key customers such as Airgas, Praxair, Matheson and independents along with contractors, oil and gas, and construction.  Denton is also unique for being ESAB's Center of Excellence as our key functions are located in this facility.  Some key attributes are local Research & Development for innovation, a major distribution center for US and global sales on Accessories & Adjacency products, the North America and international customer care support and a shared service center for North America.  The Denton location employees approximately 545 full time and temporary associates with an average length of employment of over 11 years!

Position Summary:

The Project Engineer will be a significant contributor in driving Growth thru New Product Development and Introductions within the Welding and Industrial Gas Control Industry by developing overall New Product Project plans, manage & track Projects and will maintain communication with stakeholders while working closely with Product Line Business Managers.

The Project Engineer is a key role in leading projects and cross functional resources (both internal and external) to successful completion and introductions of Innovative new Products to the Market. This role will be involved in the design and qualification tests of various products with specific focus on the development of new Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Role will also support other Product lines as well.


  • Investigate and contribute with new Product Design ideas and concepts, and technology development
  • Build and maintain accurate Project Schedules with Microsoft Project
  • Track and maintain current status on Multiple Projects against their target schedule, budget, & product costs
  • Develop and implement recovery plans for any off-target cases, resolve conflicts in projects as needed
  • Transfer VOC into QFDs and DFMEA's
  • Develop Product Specifications, documentation, and Prototype and Production test plans
  • Coordinate validation including Regulatory Compliance testing to achieve Highest Quality Products
  • Manage project expectations, and monitor project budget tracking
  • Seek out continuous improvements by finding ways to reduce risks, improve quality, and shorten time to market
  • Be an expert with the Colfax Stage Gate Product Development & VOC Processes
  • Be an excellent communicator & will keep teams and management aware of the timing and coordination of tasks to be done and status of Projects
  • The ability to work effectively across functions in a multi-cultural team is essential as is the ability to communicate with people at all levels both internally and externally Experience in cross-regional/ cross-functional collaboration


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical
  • Preferred background experience in Welding and/or Industrial Products
  • 3D CAD Experience, preferably with ProE/Creo Design Software
  • 5-7 years' experience managing Manufactured Projects
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite Package including Microsoft Project
  • Strong planning and organizational skills required for planning and execution of multiple projects
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage people and delegate tasks
  • Demonstrate key competencies in critical thinking, problem solving skills, communication, decision-making, conflict management and adaptability
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills at all organizational levels

Work Environment:

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to general office and manufacturing plant environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers and photocopiers, small products and parts. This is a full-time position, however, work outside normal business hours may occur.
